Is OpenLibreNet really free?

Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in the browser you already have. There is no extension, no desktop client and no system VPN profile - nothing to install, and nothing left behind to uninstall.
How is this different from a VPN?
A VPN reroutes your machine’s traffic but you still browse with your own browser, so your fingerprint, cookies and history travel with you. OpenLibreNet renders the page in a remote browser instead - the site meets that browser, not yours. It also applies only to the tab you opened, rather than everything else you are doing.
Which regions can I browse from?
Six today: the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Hong Kong. You pick one before you start. A session runs from a single region, so to browse from another country you close the current session and start a new one from there.
What do the sites I visit see?
A clean, generic browser in the region you picked - never your IP, your fingerprint or your cookies. Each session is isolated and disposable: close it and that browser is destroyed along with its cookies, cache and history, so nothing carries over into the next one. There is no account, so there is nothing for a site to tie your browsing to either.
How does team browsing work?
Start a session, press Invite, and share the link. Whoever opens it lands on the page you are already on and watches it update live as you scroll and click. Neither side needs an account, and it works on a phone as well as a laptop.
Will every website work?
Most do. Sites that aggressively block being embedded can behave oddly, and anything needing your hardware - a webcam, a card reader, a local file - will not work in a browser that is running somewhere else. If a page misbehaves, switching region is often enough.
Is it anonymous enough to rely on?
It hides you from the sites you visit: your IP, fingerprint and cookies never reach them. It is not built to defeat a determined adversary, and signing into an account still identifies you to that account. Treat it as strong everyday privacy rather than protection for high-risk work.
